Our ranch in Orland is where our low elevation strawberry planting stock is grown, mostly for export. The soil is such that when harvested the plants are very light (33lbs.- 15k) for shipping. The soil structure is a very deep gravely sandy loam which enables us to harvest the bareroot plants with practically no soil stuck to the roots. Since most of the stock is for overseas delivery the weight is very important to keep as light as possible and with the least amount of soil attached to the roots.
