Our asparagus rootstock is grown in Susanville Ca. on sandy loam soil. It is harvested in two segments. One in winter for our retail sales and the other in spring for our wholesale growers.

The climate in Susanville is perfect for us to keep the plants in the ground until the growers are ready to plant in the spring. This keeps the growers from having to arrainge for cold storage from winter until spring. The asparagus plant also benefits by being able to remain dormant until needed and by not needlessly expending energy in storage.
